What is SymmetricDS
SymmetricDS is open source software for multi-master database replication, filtered synchronization, or transformation across the network in a heterogeneous environment. It supports multiple subscribers with one direction or bi-directional asynchronous data replication. It uses web and database technologies to replicate tables between relational databases, in near real time if desired. The software was designed to scale for a large number of databases, work across low-bandwidth connections, and withstand periods of network outage.

SymmetricDS 3.1.10 is released! This release fixes a possible out of memory error and excessive disk usage from the staging manager that handles data files. It is recommended that users of 3.1 upgrade to this patch release. Setting the property stream.to.file.threshold.bytes=0 will prevent out of memory errors, but cause excessive disk usage. This patch release will clean up the excessive files on disk and prevent the out of memory error.

Data can be exported to files and imported using formats that are independent of the database being used. The dbexport and dbimport utilities provide a powerful set of options for extracting and loading data.

DbFill is a testing utility used to write random data to a database. It is designed to provide a simple interface for populating a single table or an entire schema. DbFill gets all of the information it needs from the database meta-data, freeing up the user to spend more time testing. Values are randomly generated given the database and column type. Foreign keys are examined to ensure data is inserted in the proper order.

SymmetricDS version 3.1.9 is released, following quickly on the heels of version 3.1.8. Together, these releases fix 6 bugs and add 4 improvements. Fixes include clustering the purge job and performance improvements to data routing for a large number of nodes.
